How Can I Be Saved?
How can I be saved? The BIG question. How can we, people born into a sinful world, live eternally with God once our time on earth is finished? To answer this question we must first understand that our world is not how God intended it. The opening of the Bible describes how God spoke everything into existence and called it good (Genesis 1 – 2:25). The world was in perfect order until sin entered the picture through Satan (Genesis 3). After the first sin of Adam and Eve, God’s perfect creation was broken and everything He made became enveloped in sin . . . including us.
The next part is to understand that because of our sin nature we cannot enter heaven by our own efforts. The Bible says that all are guilty of sin (Romans 3:23) and the punishment for sin is eternal death and separation from God in hell. But if we can’t enter heaven by our own efforts, how can we be washed clean from our sin?
“but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8).
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
The death of Jesus Christ, God’s Son, on the cross paid the debt for all sin so that salvation and access to heaven is open to everyone who believes in the Lord Jesus Christ and repents of sin.
“because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.” (Romans 10:9-10)
No matter where you are in life, no matter what you have done, salvation is open to you. The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ is enough to cover any sin. Do you believe that? Do you believe Jesus paid the full price for your sin? Do you wish to entrust your life to Him, to repent of your sin, and dedicate your life to the Lord? It is open to you. Jesus is waiting to have a forever relationship with you. All you have to do is confess of your sin and ask Jesus to be Lord of your life.
